A genuine oriental carpet is a handmade carpet made either with nodular weaving or using smooth -legged technology. By definition, the eastern carpets are those carpets that are made in the east, that is, in Asian countries, such as: China and Vietnam, in the east of Turkey – Maghreba, Cyprus and the west of Iran, in the north of the Caucasus and southern India. People from different countries, various cultures, racial groups and religious faiths participating in the production of oriental carpets. The eastern carpets are classified by origin: Persian, Arab, Kurdish, Caucasian, Central Asian, Turkmen, Chinese, Tibetan, Turkish and Indian carpets. When weaving these carpets, a special type of node is used, the so -called Persian node, thanks to which carpets have the highest quality. In the West, collecting oriental carpets as a form of art, in fact began in 1880. This was confirmed by two exhibitions. The first exhibition of the eastern carpets took place in 1891 and exhibited mainly carpets from the Imperial House of the Habsburgs, and there were also carpets from private collections. The second and more influential exhibition took place in London in 1892. Her important event was the sale of one carpet for £ 2500.
