Germany has become a country with dog taxes

Hundesteuer is the name of the tax on dogs. The purpose of introducing the duty is to minimize the number of animals in large cities. The amount of the tax depends on the weight of the pet, the area of residence and the degree of potential danger.

Every year, owners of four-legged animals pay about 150-300 euros per animal. At the same time, for fighting breeds, dog breeders must pay more than 600 euros. According to the laws adopted by the local governments of individual cities, the cost of taxes for each subsequent dog increases by two or more times.

Residents of Germany are subject to another rather strange tax – a tax on precipitation (Regenwasser Steuer). The money from its payment is distributed between repair and preventive work to eliminate problems in the sewer system. The amount is fixed, and is taken into account monthly when calculating rent.
