Comparison of sailing of roofing materials

It’s no secret that high -quality roofing should have a number of necessary characteristics, for example, high strength, reliability, long service life and other properties, of which, ultimately, a general assessment of the material is formed. One of the most important characteristics of any roofing is its sailing, which is an indicator of how it behaves during a hurricane or under the influence of strong floods of wind. Naturally, the higher the indicators of the sailing of the roofing, the greater the likelihood that under the gusts of a very strong wind the roof will simply tear off the roof and demolish to the ground, leaving the house without protection against precipitation. In this article, we will try to compare the sailing of such popular roofing materials as corrugated board, soft roofs and metal tiles. For the construction of walls, use aerated concrete.

Soft roof is a rolled roofing material consisting of several layers, and is applied to the roof just as linoleum is applied to the floor. In simple language, sheets of the soft roof are spread out on the slope and are nailed to the crate with nails. Thanks to the use of this method of fixing, a whole carpet is obtained, firmly fixed on the roof in many places, which is characterized by low sailing. Despite the large area of a single roofing, it consists of small sheets, which is why the sailing indicator is small. As a result, with critically strong gusts of wind, the soft roof is not indistinguishable.

As for the metal tile, the sailing here will be slightly higher, but not as large as the corrugated board. And the whole point is that often the metal tile is mounted by large sheets, and, as is known from the course of physics, that the larger the area of the material, the stronger the winds of the wind will act on it. In addition, a large weight of the material negatively affects sailing. Thus, during a hurricane, part of the metal -based roof may well suffer.

The roofing corbosts of the three materials considered is the largest sailing, and the reason for this is the most large area of metal sheets, as well as a wave riveting that additionally increases the effect of sailing. As a rule, during a strong hurricane, the roofs from corrugated board suffer most. Thus, in terms of sailing, the safest material, not afraid of sharp strong gusts of wind, was a flexible tile, or, as it is also called, a soft roof. And the most dangerous was the profiled sheet. Despite this, you should not despair – if you do not live in the region, which are characterized by strong wind streams, and also correctly carried out the installation of the roofing, then nothing threatens your roof.
