Decorative arch – ideal option for the doorway.

A simple way to turn a doorway into a decorative arch.

Apartments in our homes, as a rule, are continuous corners, which are formed by walls, doors, furniture and other interior attributes. Such a severity of the lines at home is somewhat tired-I want something more smooth, soft and cozy. Therefore, we usually, sometimes even unconsciously, try to smooth out these corners, acquiring oval mirrors or rounded furniture.

However, there is a larger option that allows you to make the room visually more pleasant and disposed to relax. There are openings in the capital walls of each apartment. If you make the upper corners in these openings rounded, the overall interior of the room will become more refined and psychologically more comfortable.

To perform such work, you can invite specialists who will first diligently hammer the corners, giving them an oval shape, then clean the newly formed decorative arch, plastered it, putty and primer, and only then glue it with wallpaper or paint it. This process will not only take a lot of time – there is a considerable share of risk in it, because work is carried out with a carrier wall, which is weakened during this period.

There is a simpler way to convert the opening into a decorative arch. To begin with, to determine the shape of the rounding of the corners in this opening, it is necessary to make triangles, one side of which is concave. For this, the thickness of the wall wall is measured and the radius of the desired rounding is determined. Then a drawing or template is created, marking four triangles on chipboard or wood is made on it. Then the triangles are cut off with a hacksaw with a narrow blade – with its help you can make rounding on the triangles more accurate. In addition to triangles, the side and upper base of the brackets are cut out of wood or chipboard. The foundations are drilled holes that are necessary to attach the bases to the end and the top of the opening.

All finished parts are connected with screws. In order for the wooden parts to not split during installation, it will be advisable to drill holes for nails.

Then the resulting brackets must be applied to the corners of the opening and marking the holes under the dowel. These holes are drilled with a drill, then dowels are clogged in them, and the bracket screws are attached using screws.

The next step will be cutting a strip from an organ. It should correspond to the width of the wall wall. The strip is applied to the concave sides of the brackets and nailed with nails. Its upper part can be glued with the upper part of the opening of PVA glue, boostilate or silicone sealant. Those places where the Orlit jokes with the walls, as well as all available gaps need to be thrown.

Brackets for rounding angles can be made from foam, which is sold in construction markets in sheets. It can be of different thicknesses – from two to ten centimeters, so you need to choose a foam in accordance with the thickness of the wall wall. For example, if the wall thickness is 15 centimeters, you need to buy foam sheets with a thickness of five centimeters. Foam brands are also different. Some of them are not suitable for the manufacture of brackets – they are soft and loose, and they will crumble during processing. The most suitable for these purposes is Mark 35.

Of the three parts carved from foam, the bracket is glued. It is placed under the load and allowed to dry. Then the finished brackets are glued to the angles of the opening. After the glue dries, they put up. Glue when working with polystyrene is used the same – PVA, Bustylate and silicone sealant.

As a result, a decorative arch is obtained without sharp upper corners. It is treated with paint or glued with wallpaper. To give the arched opening of a neat and aesthetic species, its ends are finished with plastic corners, which are attached with glue. Glue for such finishes is sold in tubes for syringes. It should be rapidly drying and adapted for large loads.

Decorative arches made of foam are easy to manufacture, look great and are quite strong – their service life is about six years.
