To eliminate fires of classes A, B, C, D and E, an automatic powder fire extinguishing system can be used. It has a number of advantages, among which:
low cost of stationary and mobile fire extinguishing blocks;
relative simplicity of the design provides an extremely simple installation procedure;
The ability to long -term storage – the mixture (powder) retain the structural and chemical composition for a long time. Accordingly, the described systems are ideal for stationary installations;
the ability to work where other types of systems are powerless – the powder is extremely effective in situations where it is possible to use, for example, water (for extinguishing gasoline or alkaline metals);
A wide working temperature range – powder fire extinguishing modules are able to perform their purpose at a temperature of -50 to +50 Celsius;
the lack of the need to seal the room – the presence of a gas or aerosol installation at the facility requires mandatory sealing of protected premises;
Universality – the use of mixtures based on powders makes it possible to extinguish both ordinary fires and specific (for example, electrical equipment under voltage up to 5,000 volts).
At the same time, automatic powder fire extinguishing is characterized by some disadvantages. It, for example, is useless when extinguishing materials and substances that have the ability to burn without the presence of oxygen. Mixtures used to suppress fire are extremely active in chemically. Therefore, they need to be removed from metal surfaces immediately after the end of the fire extinguishing. Finally, the mixtures are very dangerous for an unprotected person. That is, the fight against fire can only begin after complete evacuation. And this is a mass of lost time.
There are two types of automatic systems:
modular – substance for extinguishing is located in several modules, which are located directly in places of possible use. The autonomous block has everything necessary to perform the spraying of the substance (fuel) if the corresponding signal is received from the automatic control system or from the central control point;
centralized – the supply of matter comes from one tank.
They can be classified by the design of powder fire extinguishing modules, as well as by the method of extinguishing fires. In the latter case, we are talking about three types of fighting fire:
volumetric – the room is completely filled with powder composition
superficial – distribution occurs along the surfaces of the room
local – the composition spreads only in places where the emergence of an ignition source is most likely
Equipping the object with systems of the described type is performed in several stages: drawing up the project, calculation of the estimate and its approval, installation according to the project, commissioning, service.
The price question
What is the price of a powder fire extinguishing system? Suppose we need to protect a building with an area of 5 thousand square meters having ceilings 12 meters high. Therefore, we are talking about 60 thousand cubic meters that need to be protected from possible fires.
For this volume, the cost of materials and equipment will be approximately four million rubles. Another one and a half need to be spent on creating a reserve of modules. For the installation and commissioning of the system, you will need to pay two million rubles. In total we have six and a half million rubles.
However, this money cannot be limited to. The fact is that every five years it is necessary to replace the powder by dismantling all the modules and sending them to the manufacturer. Repeated installation and commissioning of the system can cost half of the initial six and a half million.
