Germans are in no hurry to legalize their relationships. Women and men do not marry before the age of 32 and 34, respectively. The average German family has no more than two children.
The divorce rate among Germans is slightly lower than in Russia. There are 1.85 divorces per 1,000 people, while in Russia this figure reaches four. Couples who have lived side by side for at least 15 years are more likely to divorce.
In 2001, the government allowed same-sex marriages.
For joint purchases, vacations, and current expenses, almost every married couple has a joint checking account, into which they deposit a certain fixed amount every month.
At the same time, these same families often have separate accounts of their own. Germans spend money on them at their own discretion, not paying attention to the whims of their other halves. This could be trips to the pub with friends, child support from previous marriages, car insurance premiums, beauty services, etc.
